Shire Homestead

We are Shire Homestead, a small hobby farm located in Rankings Springs, near Griffith.

We keep a flock of a variety of different coloured Sussex chickens that are the perfect chickens for egg laying and putting dinner on the table. The best thing about these chickens is they're friendly, don't make too much noise, and the roosters aren't very aggressive. These chickens can be great pets that will earn their keep with their supply of eggs after they're a couple of months old.

We regularly have new chicks hatched. All of our Sussex chickens are kept together so different colours are bred together. In the flock we have Speckled, Light, and Lavender Sussex. From their babies we have had Silver and a Speckled Buff show up too.

We do not sex the chicks so there is no guarantee that the chick you get will be a female. If you do get a male you don't want from us, contact us and we can discuss a replacement.
