The Nowra Poultry Club is a registered poultry club founded in 1957 and based in the Shoalhaven area of the NSW South Coast. Club members range from beginners to very experienced poultry breeders and exhibitors. Our goal is to support and promote exhibition poultry.
The Club has an active Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/NowraPoultryClub where we publish information about our events and meetings as well as regular poultry keeping and showing information. Our "one stop shop" at https://nowrapoultryclub.wordpress.com is a place where anyone can access our information sheets on exhibition poultry and backyard chicken keeping. Our Chicken Basics 101 series that can be found on the on stop shop and Facebook page has proved very popular with people new to chicken keeping.
We welcome anyone to like our Facebook page and browse our one stop shop.
Membership of the Nowra Poultry Club is open to all with an interest in pure breed poultry. Annual membership fees are $15 for a family membership and $10 for a single membership. Online applications can be made at https://tinyurl.com/npc-membership.
Members receive a Newsletter 5 times a year, reduced penning fees at the Club Show and ongoing learning opportunities.
Monthly meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of the month (except for February and December) starting at 7pm at the Poultry Shed, Nowra Showground.

The Club is looking forward to resuming shows in 2021 following the disruption of COVID in 2020. Building on the special sponsored awards for rare breeds in the Club's 2019 Annual Show, the Club is planning a rare breeds show in 2021 in addition to encouraging rare breed entries in its annual Show held in July (subject to COVID restrictions). The Rare Breeds Show will include rare breeds as well as rare varieties.
The well received Club's Chicken Basics 101 information sheets will be redeveloped in 2021 into a Basics booklet to support newcomers to chicken keeping.
The Club has recently run a member only photography competition with results being announced at its AGM on 31 October. The Club is pleased to have been able to offer cash and feed prizes through the generous sponsorship of Laucke, Vella, Australasian Poultry magazine and individual Club members. Winners will be posted on the Club's Facebook page once announced.
